In
2010, we launched our re-designed Transportation of
Dangerous Goods course online. Following its release, we
also launched the French version of TDG; Transport
des Marchandises Dangereuses, which is also offered
online. You can view more information and a free demo on
our website
here.
We make it part of our mission to continually offer you
new,
exciting and relevant courses
that will help you stay in compliance with Occupational
Health and Safety Regulations.
In
2011, we plan to add more interactive courses to our repertoire.
Thanks to all of you who completed our Course Survey
last November, we
were able to make an informed decision on what is
relevant to you and your workplace. Your feedback has
helped us decide on a few courses that we will be
working on including Workplace Violence.

Update on GHS: The US Gears Up for the GHS
The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) has released their timetable on the adoption of
the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and
Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) into the federal hazard
communication standards. After a long rulemaking
process, which began with an ‘Advanced Notice of
Proposed Rulemaking’ in September 2006, a ‘Final Rule’
is expected to be completed in August 2011. Once the
‘Final Rule’ has been made, it’s expected that Americans
will have 3 years to comply with the GHS ‘Labeling’
requirements and 2 years for ‘training’. Canada has yet
to announce an official schedule for adopting the GHS
but it’s been suggested that we’ll follow suit with the
US.
Adoption of the GHS will affect YOW Canada’s line of
WHMIS and TDG products. All products will be updated as
soon as the specifics are made available to the general
public. For those trainees who have had recent WHMIS or
TDG training, a condensed ‘update / refresher’ course
will be made available so that trainees can learn about
the changes that affect them.
