If
you think those boots can’t protect your feet as they
did from Day 1, then, you need to dispose of them.
A simple rule of thumb to use is when a heavy object
falls on your boot, it’s time to get a new pair.
A steel cap toe will definitely show this type of trauma
with an indentation but composite shoes will still
maintain their form.
Start your weekly meeting with a 2 minute work boot
inspection; guide everyone to take off their boots and
look for the following:
-
The
shoe's steel toe or other protective components such
as the steel mid sole, the steel shank or the
metatarsal guard for damage.
-
Boots
are tattered and worn, the toes are poking through the
sides, the steel toe is visible through the leather.
-
The
tread on a slip-resistant safety shoe shows signs of
damage or is worn smooth or the tread design is not
visible, then the need to replace the shoe becomes
urgent, as the shoe isn't providing the slip
protection
it was purchased for.
