The number of fines issued for
Fall Protection incidents is on the rise. In Saskatchewan
only, it has gone up from 11 in 2009 to 20 so far this year.
"Saskatchewan's
Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety has charged
another company with a fall protection-related contravention,
bringing the total number of charged companies this year to
20."
"The
ministry conducts approximately 4,000 work site inspections
annually, and there have already been 20 fall-protection
related convictions this year, compared to 11 last year. A
total of 33 prosecutions have already been initiated, the
press release goes on to say, one more than all of last year."
