Canada Inc. is looking for a Web Developer / Network Administrator
to work in our Ottawa location. In this newly created position,
you will be responsible for online course development using Flash
and ASP programming. You will also be responsible for some network
administration / maintenance.
To succeed, you will
have completed a related diploma or degree program and have at
least 1 year of experience. You are self-motivated and comfortable
working independently without much supervision. You have an eye
for detail and presentation and always put your best foot forward.
Job Description and
Tasks
*
Develop, test and deploy new web applications / courses
using a variety of languages, tools and techniques, including
Flash (with actionscript), ASP, Javascript, HTML and SQL Server™
2005.
* Produce Flash Macromedia movies to be incorporated into various
online courses (in conjunction with an OH&S Trainer).
* Administer and maintain of YOW’s corporate web servers,
web pages and training databases.
* Produce and edit content for company website based on
requirements given.
* Assist customers and staff by email or phone with technical
issues involving corporate website and online training.
* Maintain / administer YOW's network of servers responsible for
providing various services to clients and employees.
Skills and
Requirements
The ideal candidate
will have a solid understanding of the internet and its
capabilities. Emphasis will be placed on your ability to be
creative, innovative and responsible. You must be able to work in
a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task. You have
excellent administrative skills combined with the ability to meet
deadlines and time constraints.
* Completed a related
diploma or degree program and have at least 1 year of experience.
* Intermediate knowledge of Flash Macromedia and ActionScript 1.0
/ 2.0 as required for course development.
* Intermediate knowledge of web scripting languages (HTML, ASP,
Visual Basic, Javascript, SQL Server 2005).
* Experience managing web servers (Windows 2000 / 2003) IIS 6.0,
DNS, FTP accounts and email servers
* Experience creating and managing SQL type databases, good
knowledge of SQL queries.
* Knowledge of company intranet systems.
* Excellent communication skills and experience supporting website
users.
* Experience maintaining MySQL / MS Access Server databases and
developing web based applications considered an asset.
* Experience with server hardware including RAID and other
redundancy systems considered an asset.
* Excellent communication skills in English (French is a strong
asset).
