YOW Canada Inc. – Health and Safety Instructor / Trainer (Course Developer)


YOW Canada is an Ottawa based company that provides Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) training and materials to Canadian companies.  Our product base is designed to give companies the required tools to ensure they can be in compliance with various Health and Safety Regulations.

We are looking for an enthusiastic new member to join our team!

This “OH&S Instructor / Trainer” position is responsible for online course development.

To succeed, you will have completed a related diploma or degree program or have at least 2 years relevant experience. You are self-motivated and comfortable working independently without much supervision. You have an eye for detail and presentation and always put your best foot forward.

Job Description/Tasks:
 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working with a programmer to create course content and course outlines for existing and new OHS online training courses(Internet Based Training courses).  No programming skills are required.
  • Evaluating and improving current online training programs in terms of content, effectiveness and compliance to regulations.
  • Developing supplementary training,materials and manuals as required.
  • Assisting customers with training / regulatory questions.
  • Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years practical teaching experience in providing OH&S training for the following areas:   

     
    •     WHMIS
    •     Fall Protection
    •     Confined Spaces
    •     TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) experience would be an asset
    •     and / or Other Health and Safety Topics

 

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the Internet and its capabilities.  Emphasis will be placed on your ability to be creative and innovative. You have excellent administrative skills combined with the ability to meet deadlines and time constraints.

  • 2+ years practical experience
  • Good teaching and literary skills with the ability to incorporate various teaching methods
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Powerpoint
  • Strong communication skills in English (French is an asset)

YOW is looking for an enthusiastic new member to join our team!  The position would include the following responsibilities:


Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

  • Improve upon and execute a Marketing Plan 
  • Strengthen and maintain branding of our current products and services 
  • Support existing and new product development / improvements
  • Update and produce brochures (online and printed format)
  • Make sales calls to existing and potential customers



Qualifications/Requirements:

 

  • This position requires a College / University Degree or Diploma in Marketing or related discipline, along with 1-2 years marketing experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation skills
  • Analytical skills; ability to develop and recommend/present effective marketing strategies
  • Strong interpersonal communication and team skills
  • Bilingualisms (English and French) would be a strong asset
  • Effective time management skills, ability to multi-task
  • Results-oriented with a strong bias for action
  • High level of energy and enthusiasm
  • Entrepreneurial spirit coupled with creativity
  • Good PC skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
